The Author
SASNEV, the home of cultural cameraderie between South Africa, the Netherlands and Flanders, is the author. As a dynamic, independent centre where the cultural interests of the Netherlands, Flanders and South Africa meet, SASNEV is the driving force behind the mutual language interests and other cultural events. Such as this lesson project. As this lesson package. The centre is primarily, but not exclusively, aimed at speakers of Afrikaans. The Dutch language project is SASNEV’s biggest and most ambitious project, which challenges the boundaries between different languages on different continents by introducing speakers who belong to a similar language “community” to each other – in all their similarities and differences (Eenders & Anders, which means similar and different). The Eenders & Anders lesson package, as developed by SASNEV, consists of: a learner guide chapter for each different grade, teacher guides

The Publisher
Aristata, previously Protea Boekhuis, a stalwart of the Afrikaans publishing and commercial book industry, is the publisher. Protea Boekhuis’s translations from other languages to Afrikaans are of particular importance to SASNEV – and it has become one of SASNEV’s most important partners in its annual book tour. Works of authors in the Netherlands and Flanders are translated by Protea Boekhuis as a result of South Africa’s cultural ties with these two countries and because Afrikaans speakers find it difficult to read the original. Protea’s most successful translation, however, has been that of the Asterix books from French.
